Ford plans to re-enter India, patents a new vehicle design, and halts the sale of its Chennai facility.

Ford files a patent for the next-generation Endeavour in India and cancels the deal to sell the Chennai facility to JSW Group. There are job postings, which suggests that operations in India might resume.

Ford recently made the decision to back out of the deal to sell the Chennai factory to JSW Group. In parallel, the carmaker has submitted an Indian patent application for the upcoming Endeavour. Furthermore, Ford has started publishing job postings in the last few weeks. Even though Ford hasn’t made an official statement about starting operations again in India, the Endeavour’s possible return might help it stand out from rival vehicles like the MG Gloster and Toyota Fortuner.

It is important to note that the Everest is the name given to the Endeavour’s global variation. Either a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine or a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine powers the car. The bi-turbo produces 208 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, while the former produces 168 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque.

A 6-speed automatic transmission is matched with the turbo diesel engine, while a 10-speed automatic transmission is included with the bi-turbo. SelectShift is available on both transmissions, and Ford offers drivetrain options for both 4×2 and 4×4 vehicles.

In terms of design, the most recent Endeavour has a more substantial look than the one before it. Notable features include a large grille, a robust bumper, and C-shaped daytime running lamps that are complemented by LED headlamps. In addition, the car has side-mounted 21-inch alloy wheels with a 50mm larger wheelbase. With a redesigned tailgate that has a smoother appearance and unique LED tail lamps, the SUV’s back stands out.

The car’s interior has been redesigned to include a digital instrument panel and a vertically mounted infotainment system that enables wireless communication for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Additional features including USB connections, wireless charging, front parking sensors, and a 360-degree parking camera are included inside. The car has seven airbags, an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), traction control, stability control, hill hold control, and hill descent control in addition to a tire pressure monitoring system.
