A farmer from Karnataka shared his plight of receiving Rs 8 for 205 kgs of onion after traveling 415 km to Bengaluru’s Yeshwantpur market
The man said he earned only Rs 8.36 for 205 kilograms of onion after travelling 415 kilometers to Bengaluru’s Yeshwantpur market. The receipt of the transaction has now gone viral on the internet.
The farmer, identified by Pawadeppa Hallikeri, said the wholesaler who bought the onions priced them at ₹200 per quintal but went on to deduct Rs 377.64 towards freight and added Rs 25 as porter charges from the entire load.
As a result, the total came up to only Rs 8.36, leaving the farmer dejected.

Left without any medium for complementation, the farmer shared his plight online in a bid to warn other farmers to avoid selling their onion harvest in Bengaluru.
The farmers, miffed by the ridiculous pricing, are now considering protests against the government to announce a minimum support price for their produce.
