Neuralink ‘successfully’ implanted a brain chip into first human patient, according to Elon Musk.

Elon Musk’s company Neuralink has successfully inserted its first chip into a human, and the early results indicate that the technology can detect neuron spikes. The initial product, named Telepathy, seeks to enable gadget control solely through mental faculties.

Nerualink, the company founded by Elon Musk, has said that it successfully implanted its first chip in a human on Sunday. The patient is making a full recovery, and preliminary tests appear to be ‘promising neuron spike detection’. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave Musk’s brain chip startup permission to carry out its first human study last year, and the company later declared that it was looking for volunteers to have its chips implanted.

Musk also noted that the first Neuralink product is called Telepathy and it would provide humans with control over using their phone or computer just by thinking.

Musk posted on X, the former Twitter platform, announcing the human trial: “The first human received an implant from @Neuralink yesterday and is recovering well.” Early findings indicate that neuron spike detection is promising.”

“Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking. Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs. Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal.” Musk followed up in another post.

Notably, Neuralink’s initial product will allow people with paralysis to use their cellphones faster and without using their thumbs, as the billionaire revealed in his previous remarks on the platform.

In the past, Musk has posted recordings of monkeys using only their brains to navigate a screen while playing a game of pong. Neuralink has already carried out significant testing on animals. However, according to Bloomberg, the business is under criticism from several animal rights organizations, including the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, as a result of Musk’s monkey tests.
