Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit: On the first day, over $62 billion in investments are witnessed as Prime Minister Modi opens the 10th edition.

International leaders commend Modi’s vision as corporate magnates reveal substantial investments. On January 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the tenth Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar. Over the course of the three days, significant investment commitments totaling more than $62 billion (₹5 lakh crore) have been made.

Joining participants from over 130 countries and leaders from 34 partner countries, this historic conference is commemorating “20 years of Vibrant Gujarat as the Summit of Success.” The main subject, “Gateway to the Future,” creates the framework for cross-border conversations and cooperation. Notably, 20 nations are taking part, presenting their varied sectors, including Australia, Tanzania, Morocco, Mozambique, and others, according to recent sources.

State leaders and well-known CEOs attended the opening ceremony, where economic moguls including Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, the president of Maruti Suzuki, and N Chandrasekaran, the chairman of Tata Sons, took center stage to announce large investments in a variety of Gujarati sectors.

The Adani Group Chairman, Gautam Adani, made a ground-breaking promise when he said that the company would invest more than ₹2 lakh crore in Gujarat, creating over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs. Adani emphasized the creation of Khavda, Kutch, the largest green energy park in the world, which spans 725 square kilometers and can generate 30 GW of renewable energy. This enormous complex is so big that it can be seen from space.

The intention of Maruti Suzuki India to establish a second manufacturing facility in Gujarat at a cost of Rs 35,000 crore was disclosed by Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation. By 2030–31, the production capacity is expected to increase to approximately 4 million units annually. Concurrently, the Tata Group declared that it would start building a semiconductor production unit in Gujarat this year.

The chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd., Mukesh Ambani, revealed at the summit that throughout the past ten years, his business has invested over $150 billion (₹12 lakh crore) in building world-class assets and capacities throughout India, with a sizeable amount going to Gujarat alone. He also revealed Reliance’s current efforts to build India’s first carbon fiber plant, which will have a 20,000 million tons annual capacity, at Hazira, Gujarat.

To support Gujarat’s sustainable energy environment, Welspun New Energy announced a major investment of Rs 40,000 crores to create a thriving green ammonia and green hydrogen ecosystem in the state.

The UAE-based retailer LuLu Group revealed intentions to build India’s largest shopping mall in Ahmedabad, with an estimated cost of ₹4,000 crore, as part of a diverse investment strategy.

During the UAE-India Business Summit in Ahmedabad, the United Arab Emirates and India established the “UAE-India CEPA Council (UICC).” The council’s goal is to promote real collaboration and strong relationships between the business community in India and the United Arab Emirates at all levels. Both Union Minister of Commerce and Trade Piyush Goyal and UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi attended the inaugural ceremony.

In order to maintain Gujarat’s standing as a major actor on the international economic scene, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is expected to serve as a catalyst for innovation, economic growth, and international cooperation.
