According to an exclusive interview with the seer by the Times of India, Baba Abhay Singh, the viral Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay Baba, is worried about the rising suicide rates among students in Kota who are preparing for competitive exams and believes the education system is the primary cause.
Singh claims that reviving education and introducing spirituality to help kids unwind can both help reduce the pressure cooker atmosphere.
Who is the IITian baba?
Abhay Singh, also known as Masani Gorakh, is a young man of about 30 who completed additional engineering courses after earning a B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering from IIT Bombay. He worked in Canada in a high-paying job.
But he made the decision to live a life of austerity three years ago, and he is now a well-known character at the Maha Kumbh. He now devotes himself to intense spiritual activities in an effort to achieve enlightenment as a devotee of Lord Shiva.
Singh, a native of Jhajjar, Haryana, left a bright future as an aerospace engineer at IIT Bombay to pursue a more profound purpose and the truth. According to the Economic Times, his unconventional voyage has gone viral on social media, especially after he took part in the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 and was called the IITian Baba.

“During my four years of study at IIT Bombay, something was lacking. In order to pass the entrance exam, I ended up teaching physics at a coaching center after becoming interested in the arts and photography,” Singh said in an interview with the Times of India. His propensity for spirituality brought him to the arid and frigid regions of Dharmashala, Mussourie, and Shimla, where he meditated.
“Education must be student-friendly, not a source of harassment. Only a transformation in the education system, coupled with spirituality, can prevent student suicides and depression,” he advised students and society.
