Authorities in Vinayaka Nagar, Vyalikaval, found Mahalakshmi’s dead at her rented home on Saturday.
Two days after the body of a 29-year-old woman was found in a Bangalore apartment, sliced into more than 20 pieces and placed inside a refrigerator at her rented home, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda declared on Monday that they had identified the main suspect and were attempting to arrest him.
Dayananda said, “I cannot provide additional facts about the probe,” in response to the media. He is not from Karnataka; he is an alien.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, however, declared that he would not be able to divulge the information that the police had previously obtained regarding the occurrence. We have high hopes of apprehending the culprits quickly. We must determine whether the incident involved one or two people. As of right now, we are unaware of it,” he said.
Authorities found Mahalakshmi’s death at her rented home in Vinayaka Nagar, Vyalikaval, on Saturday. She lived alone and was employed as a team leader for a Malleshwaram costume company. Meena Rana, Mahalakshmi’s mother, submitted a complaint, which caused the police to open the case.
After a postmortem examination, Mahalakshmi’s body was given to her family, according to a police officer involved in the investigation. “During the course of the investigation, we also found Mahalakshmi had separated from her husband Hemant Das and that the couple had domestic disputes,” according to the officer. An inspector of police at the Nelamangala police station stated that Mahalakshmi reported Hemant Das for assault in February.
Additionally, Das reported her, claiming she was involved in an adulterous affair. The couple’s family members made an effort to defuse their conflict following the police’s Non-Cognizable Report (NCR).
On Sunday, Das revealed that he wed Mahalakshmi six years prior, and the two of them have a daughter. Furthermore, according to Das, Mahalakshmi was having an adulterous affair with a barber in Uttarakhand.
“They both had an extramarital affair that caused the problem, which I found sometime between April and May of last year. We have been separated for the past nine months, and I am not sure if she has been in contact with the man. When she separated, he was advised not to meet her, but I had no idea if he did. My kid spent the first four months with her (Mahalakshmi), and then she moved in with me in Nelamangala,” he revealed.
Das further stated that she visited Nelamangala a month ago and met their daughter. “She was calm and did not talk much about her life,” he said.
The brother added that they planned to get together to celebrate Independence Day on August 15. On September 4, he said, Mahalakshmi became intocommunicado.
In the murder case, the Bengaluru police have submitted a First Information Report (FIR) in accordance with Section 103 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). To aid in the investigation, a dog squad and forensic team visited the crime scene on Sunday.

The murder of a woman in Bengaluru brought back thoughts of the Delhi Shradda Walker case in 2022.
Aftab Poonawalla, Shraddha Walkar’s live-in boyfriend, killed and dismembered her in Delhi in 2022. Poonawalla killed Walkar and dismembered her body into thirty-five pieces, which he kept in a refrigerator and disposed of over a few weeks in different sections of the city.
