Hyderabad unveils India’s first solar cycling track. Hyderabad is now home to India’s first solar cycling track. The 23- km long track, featuring three lanes and generating 16 MW of solar power, is the second of its kind encyclopedically, following South Korea’s solar rooftop- covered track.
Other solar cycling tracks are presently being constructed in Dubai and Switzerland. Starting from October 2, the entire track, named Healthway, was made accessible24/7.
It consists of two lines the pink line, covering8.5 km from Nanakramguda to Telangana State Police Academy( TSPA), and the blue line, stretching14.5 km from Narsinghi mecca to Kollur.
Featuring three devoted lanes and defended on both sides, the track ensures complete safety for cyclists. During its induction,K.T. Rama Rao, the Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, emphasized the oneness of the Hyderabad track in terms of its design and conception, distinguishing it from other cycling tracks worldwide.
Featuring 5 access points with amenities like parking, food booths, and form stations, the track also boasts 16,000 solar panels generating 16 MW of power, significantly reducing electricity costs for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority( HMDA).
This solar power is original to 32,000 road lights or 800 km of road lighting, and it generally requires 52 acres of land. The strategically deposited lighting enhances the cityscape and allows cyclists to use the track round the timepiece, covered24/7 by CCTVs connected to the Cyberabad police command center.
