He smashed eight fours and one six on his way to three figures, reaching this milestone off Lockie Ferguson’s bowling in the 42nd over.
With this knockout stage century, he achieved a first for himself in the Cricket World Cup, surpassing Tendulkar’s record for the most runs in a single edition of the competition.
After scoring hundreds of runs in the first two games of the competition against South Africa and Bangladesh, this was Kohli’s third century of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.
He scored a century against Bangladesh during a victorious chase in Pune. In Eden Gardens, he helped lay the groundwork for a match-winning total against the Proteas with his second century.
