$111 billion has already been approved by Congress to support Ukraine. Congress was informed by the White House on Monday that the US was running out of resources and time to support Ukraine in its fight with Russia.

According to the Associated Press, Budget Director Shalanda Young sent a letter to House and Senate leaders alerting them to the fact that the US will run out of money before the end of the year to continue arming and supporting Ukraine.

The source said that Young emphasized the necessity of authorizing tens of billions of dollars in military and economic assistance to Ukraine, cautioning that without it, Kyiv’s military campaign to defend itself against Russia’s invasion will come to a complete halt.

She continued by saying that the US would not be able to continue fighting if Ukraine’s economy falls since it has already exhausted the resources it has utilized to support it.

She wrote, “We are out of money—and nearly out of time,” as reported by the Associated Press.

The administration of President Joe Biden asked Congress for more than $106 billion earlier this month in order to carry out its audacious plans for border security in the US, Israel, and Ukraine.

Reuters reports that although Republicans control a slim majority in the House of Representatives, funding for Ukraine has grown divisive politically among certain right-wing lawmakers.

$111 billion has already been authorized by Congress to support Ukraine; this includes $67 billion for military procurement, $27 billion for social and economic assistance, and $10 billion for humanitarian aid. Young told the Associated Press that by mid-November, all of it had run out, save for about 3 percent of military funds.

According to the Biden administration, in order to stretch supplies until Congress approves further funding, it has slowed down the pace of certain military aid to Kyiv in recent weeks.

Young wrote, “We are out of money to support Ukraine in this fight.” “The issue isn’t one for next year. Now is the time to support a democratic Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression. Congress needs to take action now.
