The largest workspace in the world, the Surat Diamond Bourse, was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.

The world’s largest and most contemporary hub for the international diamond and jewelry trade was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. Shortly after the new integrated terminal building at the Surat airport was opened, Modi opened Surat Diamond Bourse.

This building can accommodate 1,200 domestic and 600 international passengers during peak hours, with additional capacity to handle 3,000 passengers during peak hours and 55 lakh passengers annually.

Within Surat Diamond Bourse, there will be a state-of-the-art ‘Customs Clearance House’ for import and export, a retail jewellery mall, international banking facilities, and secure vaults.

Following the auction, the management assigned offices to a number of diamond traders, including some who were formerly situated in Mumbai, which they have already taken possession of, according to a recent statement from SDB’s media convener, Dinesh Navadiya. The Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City includes the SDB.

In February 2015, Anandiben Patel, the former chief minister of Gujarat, conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the SDB and DREAM City projects.

According to a release, the SDB, which has 67 lakh square feet of floor space and over 4,500 diamond trade offices, is currently the largest office complex in the world.

Constructed on a 35.54-acre property within DREAM City, the massive building features nine 15-story towers housing office spaces ranging in size from 300 square feet to one lakh square feet.
