Passengers at Kempegowda International Airport( KIA) in Bengaluru are now needed to rigorously cleave to the weight limits for their checked baggage as automated baggage drop machines have been introduced by the airlines.

When she approached the automatic baggage drop machine at the terminal, she realized that her bag counted 15.1 kg. To her dismay, the staff operating at the airline the machine refused to accept her bag as it exceeded the allowed weight by 0.1 kg.
Recalling the incident, the woman explained that she was forced to remove some particulars from her bag on the spot by the airline to reduce its weight by 100 grams.
She also tried to request that the redundant weight be acclimated with the bags of her musketeers, whose baggage was under the quested weight, as is generally done in the conventional baggage drop system. still, the airline staff informed her that the automatic bag drop machine is calibrated specifically for 15 kg bags and doesn’t allow any adaptations with the fellow passengers.

The woman, who was in Bengaluru to attend her scale form, expressed her embarrassment at the situation. She emphasized how the incident could have been avoided if there was inflexibility in conforming weight among passengers traveling under the same PNR.
Still, sources at KIA explained that the airlines operate these automatic bag drop machines and set the baggage limits in agreement with aeronautics regulations.
According to one baggage- handling worker at KIA, the machines are calibrated to accept only 15 kg bags as check- in luggage. also, the machines don’t accept bags of larger sizes or irregular shapes during the check- in process.
