Bhubaneswar: Huge donations to the 12th-century shrine Jagannath temple in Puri, Odisha, have been made by Anant, the son of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, who visited the temple yesterday.

Ambani has sent the Jagannath Temple a cheque for Rs 2.51 crore on behalf of Reliance Industries Limited, and the shrine management has issued him a receipt in this regard. Anant arrived in Odisha yesterday; he recently became engaged to Radhika Merchant.

Shortly after arriving at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here, he was brought to the Holy Town of Puri under strict security.

Before departing the Holy Town, Anant offered prayers to Lord Jagannath, his siblings, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
