Love marriages are growing more common in India, according to a survey by WeddingWire India, the country’s branch of the Knot Worldwide’ wedding technology platform.
68% of couples that participated in the brand’s poll in 2020 acknowledged that their union was pre-arranged, In contrast, only 44% couples- a 24% decrease-opted for it in the poll carried out in 2023.
A poll conducted in 2023 found that the use of wedding technology platforms has increased by 11% , with 58% of couples choosing to utilise wedding planning websites now compared to 47% in 2020.
The survey also showed that 32% of couples plan their marriage only 1-3 months in advance, compared to 41% of couples who start planning their marriage 4-6 months before their wedding.
According to the poll, 76% of couples chose WhatsApp as a substitute medium for communicating with the visitors.
The majority of the couples used WhatApp to communicate all the information, including guest accommodations, event dates and types and other data. While 33% of couples invited guest in person, 39% of couples sent out physical invitations.
According to the report, people preferred smartphones over traditional wedding planning tools.
According to the poll, 53% of couples organise their own wedding.
