Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s administration increased the state’s reservation percentage to 75%, with a 10% quota set aside for economically disadvantaged sections. 20% go to SCs, 2% go to STs, 18% go to OBCs, and 25% go to EBCs.

The Supreme Court of India’s 50% limitation is exceeded by the Nitish cabinet’s decision to impose a 65% reservation limit.

Following his declaration that he intended to raise the state’s quotas for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took this action.

Shortly after the state released the extensive report of the contentious caste survey, which included information on the economic circumstances of different groups, the Chief Minister made a statement in the assembly.

Following the assembly’s presentation of the comprehensive caste survey report, Nitish Kumar declared during a discussion that “quotas for Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes need to be raised.” We will act appropriately after the appropriate consultations.
