The well-known tourist spot Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir has had its first snowfall of the year.

One of the most well-known tourist attractions is Gulmarg, which is known for both its breathtaking scenery during the snowy season and the lupine flowering period, which typically lasts from mid-June to the end of July.

Jammu and Kashmir transforms into a winter paradise from December to March during the winter season. Tourists in Gulmarg take advantage of the snowstorm and create snow sculptures. In addition to its stunning scenery, Gulmarg is well-known for its winter sports.

It is not only the most well-liked vacation spot, but it is also a skiing destination.

The World’s largest igloo cafe opened earlier in February 2022 in Gulmarg, attracting the attention of numerous tourists. A private company built a glass igloo restaurant in Gulmarg in 2023.

St. Mary’s Church, the Maharaja Palace, the Drung Waterfall, the Maharani Temple, and the Gulmarg Gondola ride—said to be Asia’s highest and longest ropeway—are other well-known attractions in this scenic location.

Meanwhile, severe rains have returned to Himachal Pradesh, the state that has seen the biggest calamity this monsoon season, forcing the closure of twenty-four roadways in five different state districts.

According to statistics from the State Disaster Management Authority, which was cited by ANI, “16 roads remain blocked in Lahaul-Spiti district, 4 in Shimla, 2 in Kullu, and 1 each in Kangra and Kinnaur districts.”

468 people have killed, 487 have been injured, and 40 are missing since the start of the state’s monsoon fury, according to data from State Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi.

The data showed that “2,647 houses have been completely damaged, 1,129 houses have been damaged in part, 320 shops have been damaged, and 5,977 cowsheds have been damaged.”
