In his speech at COP28 in Dubai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India aims to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030. On Friday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that India host the COP33 conference in 2028.
India is dedicated to implementing the UN Framework on Climate Change. The prime minister stated as much in his speech at the World Climate Action Summit during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai. “That is why, from this stage, I propose to host COP33 Summit in India in 2028.”
“India’s goal is to bring down emissions intensify by 45% till 2030. We have decided to increase the share of non-fossil fuel to 50%. We will also keep going ahead towards our goal of net zero by 2070,” he said.

Speaking at the UN climate summit in Dubai’s high-level segment for heads of state and government, he said that India has set a fantastic example for the rest of the world for striking a balance between prosperity and environmental protection.
Along with UN Climate Change President Simon Steill and COP28 President Sultan Al Jaber, Modi was the sole head of state to attend the inaugural plenary.
The prime minister stated that the global energy transition must be “just and inclusive” and urged the preservation of a balance between mitigation and adaptation.
The prime minister continued, “Mother Earth is looking to us to protect her future; we have to succeed and we have to be decisive.”
