In the Women’s Premier League 2024 final held on March 17, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured the title with an eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals. The team ended Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 16-year wait for glory by clinching their maiden title.

Opting to bat first, Delhi Capitals were bowled out for 113 runs in 18.3 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore successfully chased down the target of 114 with three balls to spare.

In the first innings, Delhi Capitals looked good against the spinners of Royal Challengers Bangalore, scoring 64 off 43 balls without losing. However, they experienced an abrupt collapse, losing all 10 wickets for just 49 runs, which quickly sapped their enthusiasm. Midway through their innings, Delhi Capitals’ main player, Meg Lanning, who was trying to turn things around, was removed leg before wicket by Shreyanka. As a result of this development, Delhi Capitals were dismissed for 113 runs.

Smriti Mandhana (31), Sophie Devine (32), and Ellyse Perry (35 not out) were notable RCB contributors. The victory was a big deal for RCB, who had advanced to three finals in 2009, 2011 and 2016 before.
