Tata Motors largest electric passenger vehicle manufacturer in India would provide 25,000 electric cars to Uber.
The order should be delivered by the Tata group entity during the following 12 to 15 months. Uber will work with lenders to make it easier medium and large-sized fleet operator on its platform to purchase these EVs in the market with limited supply.
Also, according to the company’s news release, the vehicle will be gradually introduced into seven key Uber markets, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Banglore and Ahmedabad. Under the agreement Uber will deploy Tata Motor’s XPRES-T EVs.
According to sources, Uber is not purchasing these vehicles. The fleet Partners of Uber will receive car deliveries. Uber collaborates with a number of fleet partners who operate their cars in the ride-sharing network in various cities and regions
Some of the large fleet partner companies would receive Tata EVs fleet owners to onboard EVs considerably more quickly, lowering the obstacles to going electric.
In a statement, Uber president for South Asia and India Prabhjeet Singh, stated, “Uber is committed to bringing sustainable and shared transportation to India”. A significant turning point is that path is this relationship with Tata Motors. It is the biggest EV partnership between a carmaker and an Indian ride-sharing service to date.
