President Droupadi Murmu officially opened the newest ship to the Indian Navy’s fleet, the INS Vindhyagiri, making a huge step in enhancing India’s maritime capability. The launch event took place at Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), which has its headquarters in Kolkata.

INS Vindhyagiri will join its sister ships, INS Himgiri and INS Dunagiri, at the Outfitting Jetty at GRSE after its launch.

The enormous Vindhya mountain range, which stands for power, willpower, and unshakable will, gave the warship its name. The first moment the INS Vindhyagiri hits the waters of the River Hooghly, it begins a journey that reflects the tenacity of the mountains after which it is named, preserving the cherished ideals that characterize our country.

The significant contribution INS Vindhyagiri will make to strengthening India’s defense industrial base is one of the pillars of the launch.

According to Defense Ministry representatives, this historic accomplishment lessens India’s dependency on foreign suppliers, effectively advancing the country’s ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) agenda promoted by the Narendra Modi-led union government.
