Strict laws on drinking and eating meat are enforced in Ayodhya throughout the Panch Kosi Marg area, a well-traveled pilgrimage route through the city.

Authorities in Ayodhya have stated that if Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), a fast food brand based in the US, only offers vegetarian options on its menu, they would be open to considering constructing an outlet. Strict prohibitions against the consumption of meat and alcohol are in place in Ayodhya along the Panch Kosi Marg area, a well-traveled pilgrimage route across the city.

A government official claims that various food companies have made proposals to open stores in Ayodhya; the only catch is that they are not allowed to serve non-vegetarian cuisine in the Panch Kosi neighbourhood. KFC is located outside of Haridwar, where similar regulations are already in place.

“KFC has set up its unit at Ayodhya-Lucknow highway because we do not allow non-vegetarian food items here,” said Vishal Singh, an Ayodhya government officer. Even KFC is welcome to use our premises if it chooses to sell solely vegetarian food.

When the dates of the consecration were announced, Pizza Hut launched this location approximately three months ago. The crowd is at Ram Path, therefore that’s where we are looking for a store. Moneycontrol quoted Verma as saying, “We are doing really well, but opening a shop there will get the cash register ringing.

Ayodhya is anticipated to develop into a well-known religious destination after Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Ram Mandir in January, challenging other significant pilgrimage sites in India. Consequently, enterprises, particularly those in the food and hospitality domain, expect a notable surge in earnings, and officials have hinted at the prospect of augmenting the culinary alternatives available to guests.

However, Dinesh Yadav’s Domino’s pizza business is making the most of its proximity to the Ram Mandir. According to Moneycontrol, the business is located roughly one kilometer from the temple. Yadav told the magazine that on the first day, the shop “did a business of around ₹5,000.”

Predictions from the state administration indicate that Ayodhya would see a weekly influx of 10–12 lakh tourists until Ram Navami on April 17, following which considerable foot traffic is anticipated. Ayodhya is anticipated to transcend its status as a temple town due to the rise in temple tourism, as evidenced by the execution of 161 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) valued at more than ₹8769.52 crore.

The Memorandums of Understanding were inked at the Uttar Pradesh Global Investors’ Summit in February of last year, and a planned groundbreaking ceremony involving a minimum of 25 state government departments would mark the beginning of the agreements. It is anticipated that the next ceremony will raise the quantity of projects and their aggregate value, hence augmenting Ayodhya’s growth.

The housing department will carry out projects valued at ₹3234 crore, while the state tourism department plans to launch projects worth over ₹2020 crore to enhance tourism. It is anticipated that the development plans will improve the city’s general infrastructure and open up work opportunities for residents.
