This is the highest margin of victory (228 runs) by India over Pakistan in the Asia cup 2023.

After two days of heated cricket that was frequently interrupted by rain, India defeated Pakistan by the largest margin ever between them (228 runs) in the Asia Cup Super 4 match at Colombo.

On the 10th of September, skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both made half-centuries to form a 121-run opening partnership, but both could not turn their 50s into something meaningful and were bowled in consecutive overs.

The game was subsequently taken away from Pakistan by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who struck a 233-run partnership on the reserve day (11th September).

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul’s 233-run partnership included centuries by both Kohli and Rahul. This was KL Rahul’s sixth ODI century, which was especially notable given that he had just recently returned to the team after missing several months due to injury.

Virat Kohli went on to record his 47th century, trailing Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time best of 49 hundreds. Virat Kohli also became the fastest player in ODI history to score 13,000 runs in 267 innings.

This record comes after Kohli became the fastest player in ODI history to score 8000, 9000, 10,000, 11,000, and 12,000 runs.

The batting excellence displayed by India took its total to 356/2, presenting a very difficult challenge to Pakistan, who were unable to overcome it after a 5 wicket haul by Chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav decimated the Pakistani batting lineup, which was reduced to 128/8 in 32 overs, and since Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were injured and could not bat, the Pakistani innings ended at 128.

The Pakistani innings did not show much promise or even test the Indian bowlers at any time, with Fakhar Zaman scoring 27 runs for Pakistan during the game.

India will now play Sri Lanka in Colombo tomorrow at 3 p.m. local time (3 p.m. IST) as part of their Super 4 match, followed by Bangladesh on Friday the 15th.

The match against Sri Lanka will be crucial because if India wins, they will remain in the competition and may potentially advance to the finals, even if their match against Bangladesh is washed out or lost.
