After taking off, the InterGlobe-Archer airplane will take about 7 minutes to transport passengers from the nation’s capital’s Connaught Place to Gurugram, Haryana.
The parent company of IndiGo, InterGlobe Enterprises, has declared that it plans to launch an all-electric air taxi service in India by 2026. IndiGo has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Archer Aviation, a business that deals with electric aircrafts, air taxis, and similar products, in relation to its intentions to run the air taxi service.
According to an announcement on Thursday, once it takes off, the InterGlobe-Archer airplane would transport passengers from Connaught Place in the nation’s capital to Gurugram in Haryana in about 7 minutes, compared to 60–90 minutes by road for the 27-kilometer distance.
In addition to providing air taxi services, the companies hope to grow their collaboration in a number of other areas. “In addition to urban air taxi services, the parties plan to pursue a variety of other use cases for the electric aircraft in India, including cargo, logistics, medical and emergency services, as well as private company and charter services,” the release continued.
Archer Aviation announced on X that it has struck a historic agreement with @InterGlobe_IGE, the country’s leading travel and hospitality group, and that it will provide electric air taxis in 2026 to serve the biggest and busiest cities in India. This week, InterGlobe’s Group Managing Director Rahul Bhatia and our Chief Commercial Officer, @ngoel, were in New Delhi for a signing ceremony.
In addition, the partnership plans to provide funding for the purchase of up to 200 Archer Midnight aircraft for use in India. A piloted four-passenger electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, the Midnight is designed to provide rapid succession of flights with the least amount of time needed for charging in between.
