A Bolivian guy claims that his knowledge of survival skills came in handy when he became separated from friends on a hunting expedition in January.
A Bolivian guy who claimed to have been lost in the Amazon for a month alone has described how he survived by consuming worms and insects, collecting water in his boots and drinking his own urine.
If verified, Jhonatan Acosta, 30 would rank among the longest-ever lone Amazon survivors.
He said on Tuesday to Unitel TV, “I had to devour insects, drink my urine and eat worms. It helped a lot to know about survival skills.
Around the end of January, Acosta’s family reported him missing. He was travelling with four friends on a hunting excursion across the amazon rainforest when, on January 25, he lost contact with them.
Exactly a month later, last Saturday, he was found by search and rescue team.
Acosta told Unitel it rained half the time he was lost. He used his rubber boots to collect whatever rainwater he could . but when skies dried up, he had to drink his urine.
Acosta declared, ” I prayed to God for rain. ” I wouldn’t have survived if it hadn’t rained.”
Acosta, who claimed to be lost, he wandered for almost 40 kilometers (25 miles) in search of civilization before realizing he was traveling in circles. During his struggle, he reportedly lost 17kg and dislocated his ankle.
He claimed that while out in outdoors at night, he was bitten by a variety of different animals. He has struggle with a pig, a wild and dangerous animal, and a tiger was lurking nearby, his sister Miladde Acosta told Unitel TV according to CBS.
After being reunited with his family, Acosta told the channel, “I am really happy and appreciative.
After crash-landing in Brazil in 2021, Pilot Antonio Sena spent 38 days in the jungle. The next year, two boys, age 7 and 9, who has been lost in the Brazilian rainforest for 25 days, were found and saved.
