Modiji will follow in the footsteps of the great Swami Vivekananda and meditate at the memorial.
A major spiritual trip is being undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of his campaign for the Lok Sabha. He is scheduled to visit the well-known Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, from May 30 to June 1.
Modiji will spend the evening of May 30 to June 1 at the memorial, following in the footsteps of the great Swami Vivekananda. Modi’s meditation will center around the Dhyan Mandapam, the same place where Swami Vivekananda sat in meditation. This historical connection highlights how spiritual inquiry and practice have persisted across centuries.
At this rock, the renowned philosopher and spiritual teacher Swami Vivekananda had a transformative experience. Before coming here, he had journeyed far throughout India and spent three days in deep meditation. During this time, he had a vision of Bharat Mata, which gave him hope for an improved India. Similar to Sarnath for Gautam Buddha, Swami Vivekananda had a particular place in his life journey for the rock.

Mythological Convictions
It is thought that Goddess Parvati herself pondered here, waiting for Lord Shiva while standing on one foot. A distinct aura is emanating from the convergence of these spiritual energy at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.
Kanyakumari is significant geographically in addition to its spiritual significance. It denotes India’s southernmost point, the meeting point of its eastern and western coastlines. The Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean all meet here. Modiji sends a strong message of national unification by opting to meditate at this momentous occasion, serving as a reminder that India’s diversity and unity are interwoven.
This pilgrimage is consistent with Modiji’s custom of embarking on spiritual quests following electoral campaigns. He had already traveled to Shivaji’s Pratapgarh (2014) and Kedarnath (2019). Voting for 543 Lok Sabha seats begins on April 19 and will be conducted in seven phases. The nation will wait until June 4 for the vote counting to determine the final outcome. The nation might think and find inspiration in the prime minister’s meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in the interim.
