Falguni Shah had performed “Abundance in Millets” on X earlier in June of this year. The song was prompted by PM Narendra Modi’s suggestion to the UN to designate 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
Proud to work with him, compose a song to support millet, encourage farmers to plant it, and contribute to the eradication of world hunger.” The song’s album cover was revealed by PM Modi during his four-day visit to the US in June.
Shah had previously disclosed that she had met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi following her Grammy victory, and it was then that she found the inspiration to write a song about millets.
She said that the prime minister gave her advice to write a song on ending hunger during their discussion about how music can inspire change and uplift humanity. Falu claimed that she had innocently requested the prime minister to co-write the song, and he had given his consent.
