Mumbai Police has imposed Section 144 from December 3, 2022 onwards to January 2, 2023. As per orders passed by Mumbai Police today, Section 144 will be imposed in the city . However, students should note that Schools and Colleges in Mumbai will remain open and are not going to be impacted.
Mumbai schools and colleges will continue to function as per their respective academic calendars. Schools are expected to be closed for winter break and board exam preparatory leaves. Schools and colleges are expected to function in the same manner, unless an order is issued by the city police or district management.
Mumbai police has placed a curfew in order to ensure peace and avoid any kind of disruptions in public order. Any loudspeakers, processions, political rallies, religious processions, bursting of firecrackers, gathering of five or more people has been banned till January 2, 2023.
Schools and Colleges will remain open for students of all classes, until further orders are received from the concerned authorities regarding school closure and school holidays.
Reason for Mumbai Curfew

What exactly is Section 144?
Section 144 of the India Penal Code (IPC) restricts the congregation of five or more people at one particular area. As per the law, anyone found violating the rules will be booked for disobeying a public servant under Section 188.
