The Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation established the first-ever ‘Pizza ATM’ in north India, which can create pizzas in just three minutes.
One of Chandigarh’s top tourist destinations, Sukhna Lake and its environs is a lovely, 3 sq km rainfed lake that was established in 1958.
There’s a new ‘Pizza ATM’ along the lake, to boost its tourism value. Installed by the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corpora, the “Pizza ATM” is the first of its type in north India and can create pizzas in just three minutes.
The licensee operating the pizza vending machine, Dr. Rohit Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO of iMatrix Group of Companies (iMatrix World Wide), stated to the media that “the idea for the ‘Pizza ATM’ originated in France.” We chose to construct the equipment entirely at our Mohali factory because it was costly.” After the Covid epidemic, iMatrix World Wide had previously set up a similar device at a Mumbai train station; however, the response waned and the business was forced to close the kiosk.
Sharma informed the publication about the Sukhna Lake pizza kiosk: “The vending machine is now preparing about 100 pizzas a day on average. On weekends, the number can increase to as high as 300.”
Additionally, he stated, “Our ATM pizzas are roughly 35% less expensive than those at Pizza Hut and Domino’s.” For example, a medium paneer tikka pizza at Domino’s costs Rs 560, but just roughly Rs 340.” “A robotic arm picks up the pizza base with the required topping, bakes it, and serves it in just three minutes after a customer selects the type of pizza he wants to have.
According to the journal, Sharma stated, “The machine can make up to seven pizza bases with toppings at any given time.” According to CITCO officials, the pizza ATM was permitted since Sukhna Lake sees a lot of tourists who request munchies from different cuisines.

According to CITCO authorities who spoke with the publication, the pizza ATM was approved to be placed next to Sukhna Lake because of the lake’s frequent visitor traffic, which requests a wide variety of munchies. According to Sharma, “The pizza ATM concept has been picked up from Europe and it generates all vegetarian pizzas of different varieties.”
Sharma added that his business had previously purchased a Chinese device that even mixed the dough and distributed the toppings. However, issues with the machine’s availability of parts and technical assistance arose.
According to CITCO, Sharma, the licensee, will bear the full cost of operating the pizza ATM, including hiring personnel, providing uniforms for them, paying for their training, and covering other related costs.
