Tirupati Balaji Temple is ‘richer’ than popular Indian businesses, with an estimated net worth of Rs 3L Cr, surpassing even that of Tendulkar and Kohli.
In terms of net worth, Lord Balaji at the Tirumala hill shrine is said to have set a “new record” when compared to the market capitalization of significant Indian stock market listed corporations.
The market capitalization of significant firms listed on the stock market, including as TATA Motors, Nestle, and Bajaj Finserv, is supposedly valued at Rs 2.6 lakh crore, but the net worth of the deity’s assets is about Rs 3 lakh crore.
In 2022, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) published a white paper stating that Sri Venkateswara Swamy’s assets have a net worth of Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
However, given that the 2022 white paper was published over 14 months ago, insiders claim that the net worth may have now approached Rs 3 lakh crore.
Legends of Indian cricket like Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar are claimed to earn less a year than the Hundi at the holy hill shrine. The yearly revenue of Lord Balaji’s Hundi in Tirumala registered a staggering amount of Rs 1,400 crore, while Tendulkar earned Rs 1,300 crore and Kohli earned Rs 1,000 crore.
The income of Sri Venkateswara Swamy is derived from a number of sources, such as the direct offerings of devotees, the hair of devotees who have had their heads tonsurped, interest from fixed deposits, and gifts totaling hundreds of crores of rupees made by devotees who are part of the TTD to various trusts.
The executive officer of TTD, Dharma Reddy, recently disclosed the specifics of Lord Balaji’s holdings. As a result, 11,225 kg of gold were placed in multiple banks under Lord Balaji’s name.
In addition to ten tons of silver decorations, the presiding deity’s golden accessories weighed 1.2 tons.
6,000 acres of forest land that are under TTD boundaries and properties totaling 7,636 acres at 75 locations are among the immovable assets. 6,409 acres are not used for agriculture, and 1,226 acres are used for agricultural.
Up to 71 temples are operated by the TTD in cooperation with it; it also possesses 535 other assets, of which 159 are leased; the TTD will receive an annual revenue of Rs 4 crore from the rented assets.
The TTD has been considering leasing 169 additional assets. There are up to 307 Kalyana Mandapams in the TTD. Of these, 166 Kalyana Mandapams have been leased to third parties, while 29 have been given to the endowment department.
The rented mandapams will generate an annual income of Rs 4 crore for the TTD. Additionally, it operates 97 mandapams and has received donations totaling Rs. 1,021 crore from followers via the SRIVANI Trust.
