As a video surfaced of the Tibetan spiritual leader kissing a young child on the lips and then requesting that he “suck his tongue,” the Dalai Lama found himself at the centre of a controversy.
Social Media users have responded angrily to the video, which has become very popular.
Netizens have gotten into a fight over the video, labelling the spiritual leader’s actions as “disgusting” and “creepy”.
“Very startled to see this Dalai Lama presentation. He has previously had to apologise for his remarks that were sexist. But telling a little youngster to “Now such my tongue” is revolting, a Twitter user wrote.

The Dalai Lama’s actions in full view of the people are simply abhorrent. It is equivalent to sexual assault and molestation.
No younger should be exposed to such circumstances. I hope the appropriate authorities are aware. A case must be reported to POCSO, another user in Social Media tweeted.
The Dalai Lama has encountered criticism from the public before. A few years ago, the Dalai Lama caused controversy when he said that if his successor were to be a woman, she would have to be “attractive”.
Later, The Tibetan spiritual leader apologised for his remark.
