On November 11, Vistara will make its last flight and cease to exist as an independent company as it merges with Air India.
Bookings for flights on Vistara for departure on or after November 12, 2024 will be closed as of September 3, 2024. Bookings for these routes will be sent to the Air India website, and all Vistara aircraft will thereafter operate under the Air India name.
Vistara will carry on with business as normal through November 11 in order to provide a seamless transition for its customers.
The CEO of Vistara, Vinod Kannan, thanked clients for their support over the previous ten years and emphasized that the goal of the merger with Air India is to improve the whole travel experience by providing a larger fleet and network.
He gave his word that both airlines are dedicated to a smooth transition and would be providing frequent updates on their websites and social media accounts. In line with this idea, Campbell Wilson, CEO of Air India, emphasized the joint efforts of the Air India and Vistara teams to integrate personnel, operations, and customer services as effectively as feasible.
The merger, which was originally reported in November 2022, is a calculated step toward building the world’s most powerful full-service airline. An important roadblock in the merger process has been removed as Singapore Airlines, which holds a 49% share in Vistara, has been approved for foreign direct investment by the Indian government.
With a $250 million investment and a pledge to make additional investments after the merger, Singapore Airlines will own a 25.1% share in the combined Air India business when the merger is completed by the end of 2024.
