In New Delhi: The Delhi Police on friday submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court declaring that it will file an FIR over sexual harassment charges made against the Wrestling Federation of India leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh by seven female wrestlers. This might be viewed as the first action against the WFI boss.
The FIR would be filed today, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha while speaking on behalf of the Delhi Police.
“We’ve made the decision to file a FIR. Mehta assured the bench that it will be lodged today as it was considering a complaint from seven female wrestlers who claimed that Singh has not been the subject of a FIR about their claims of sexual harassment.
Additionally, the court ordered the Delhi Police Commissioner to determine whether a minor complainant poses a threat and to give her the necessary protection.
The SC stated that the CP would evaluate threats to other complainants as well and, if appropriate, offer them security. Hearing to follow on May 4.

Olympic gold medalists Neeraj Chopra and Abhinav Bindra asked authorities to see that justice is done earlier in the day, garnering support from the sports community for the wrestlers who were protesting.
The wrestlers have received support from Sania Mirza, Irfan Pathan, Virender Sehwag, Nikhat Zareen, and Rani Rampal.
