The National Council of Educational Research and Training( NCERT) should consider replacing the name ‘ India ’ with ‘ Bharat ’ in handbooks and introduce ‘ classical History ’ rather of ancient History in the class, a high- position commission for social lores’ speaker CI Issac said on Wednesday.

Issac said the “ amicable ” recommendation of the seven- member commission has set up citation in its final position paper on social lores, which is a crucial conventional document that’s supposed to lay down the foundation for the development of new NCERT handbooks on the subject.

The panel chaired by Issac was among the 25 panels formed by the NCERT in December 2021 to prepare position papers on colorful subjects and themes.
The NCERT panel’s recommendation came against the background of a debate on whether the country will be renamed’ Bharat’.
